The V – Week #13

Post Game

Game 1:
The first game of the series saw both players opening up pretty standard with Spanishwa actually building Roaches (he does not often use them). Spades started off with some marine marauder mix, and transitioned into siege tanks. Seeing this oppourtunity, Spanishiwa morphed a couple of broodlords, and with nothing to defend it, Spades threw in the hat.

Game 2: The second game started off with some excellent marine harassment by Spades, picking off a couple of Overlords. He then proceeded to decimate Spanishiwa’s mineral line with a drop of four blue flame Hellions into his base. Spanishiwa then retaliated by upgrading to infestors and sending them burrowed to Spades’ natural expansion. Some well placed Fungal Growths managed to take out a lot of Spades’ mineral line. With a massive amount of zerglings, and a couple of brood lords, Spanishiwa takes game two.

Game 3: The third game saw a fast expand from both players. Spades was able to wall off the only path to his main and natural expansion using three barracks. Because of his wall, he was able to double expand for the extra resources. Spanishiwa took the only route he found at that moment – A good old fashioned baneling bust. Although he was able to break through the defences of Spades, he was unable to defend against the counter attack as blue flame hellions were able to incinerate his resource income. The third game goes to VTSpades.

Game 4: The fourth game saw Spades building two forward Barracks for an extremely offensive play. With an excellent scouting move by Spanishwa, he was able to kill one of the SCVs building the barracks. Realizing that Spade’s plan did not work, Spanishiwa quickly attacked Spades base, making Spades lose some precious mining time. After a long mid game of upgrades and macro, Spades decided to push out with a full food count. Although he had the unit advantage, Spanishiwa had the upgrade advantage and was able to defend the attack, and win the game with a massive counter attack.

Game 5: The fifth game saw Spades attempting to wall of the entrance to his base. Spanishiwa managed to send a huge amount of zerglings through his wall, as it was not tight enough to avoid entrance. The first wave sent the mineral line of Spades’main to his natural where a second wave of zerglings had managed to kill several SCV’s. Spades responding by making mass marines that managed to deal massive damage to Spanishiwa’s natural expansion. With an attack from the higher ground, Spades was able to stop resource collection at on of Spanishiwa’s expansions which allowed him to make more units. With the massive amount of units Spades had, he pushed and was able to secure the win for the fifth game.

Game 6: The final game saw Spades looking like he had the upper hand. With a huge bioball and some Siege Tanks, he moved his army up to Spanishiwa’s base. He managed to destroy a lot of what Spanshiwa had, but Spanishiwa managed to create a couple of brood lords, and without many marines to defend against those air units, Spades ended with a “I don’t know”, “gg”. Spanishiwa has held his title as The V champion, and will return next week to defend it.
